How do I pay for Stem?

By mobile money, MTN or Airtel, and it is automatic. You choose your plan and enter your mobile money number, a payment request arrives on that phone, and you approve it with your mobile money PIN. The plan activates on its own the moment the payment goes through. There is nothing to copy down, no transaction ID to send us and no waiting for someone to approve it by hand.

No card is required, and nothing needs a foreign payment method or a bank account.

Pricing questions, answered

How much does Stem POS cost?

Stem starts free, and the free plan is a starter rather than a demo: one user, with offline retail selling, stock, the credit book, shifts, the day’s report and analytics, and no trial clock. Paid plans are USh 20,000 a month for Basic, USh 55,000 for Standard and USh 100,000 for Premium, billed by MTN or Airtel mobile money.

How do I pay for Stem?

By mobile money, MTN or Airtel, and it happens automatically. You pick your plan and enter your mobile money number, a payment request arrives on that phone, and you approve it with your mobile money PIN. The plan activates on its own as soon as the payment goes through, so there is no transaction ID to copy down and nothing to wait for someone to approve by hand. No card is required and no foreign payment method is needed.

Is there a free plan?

Yes, and it is a starter rather than a trial. One user gets offline retail selling, the catalogue synced, stock with batches and expiry, the credit book, receipt history, shifts, the day’s report and analytics. It does not expire. The limits are people and restaurants: no extra staff logins, and no kitchen tickets, modifiers, recipes or table service.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Yes. Plans are monthly and you can change them at any time from inside the app. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, so you never lose time you paid for.

Do I have to pay for the Windows till?

No. The Windows till is a free download and the installer is complete, so there is nothing else to buy and no per-device licence. What you pay for is the plan your store is on, not the number of machines you install.

What happens if my subscription lapses?

The till keeps your data and keeps working for core selling; the paid capabilities your plan granted stop at expiry, on the device as well as online. Nothing is deleted, and renewing restores them.
